The Maritime Division provides strategic security consultancy for the protection of maritime assets. We offer security vulnerability assessments, gap analysis, mitigation strategies and technical solutions to facilitate appropriate and cost effective security management.
Our Maritime Division works globally with governments, regulatory bodies and the commercial shipping industry, supporting them in fulfilling ongoing ISPS Code requirements.
Post September 11th, the Maritime Division was invited to participate in the Merchant Marine Personnel Advisory committee (MERPAC) drafting of the US Coast Guard’s submission to the IMO for the ISPS Code.
The Maritime Division worked closely with ABS, BV and RINA to train their surveyors, enabling them to issue ISPS Code certification for ship security and port security providing expertise for their qualification criteria for RSO status.
Hart has trained over 2,000 Ship, Company and Port Facility Security Officers and has conducted more than 400 ship and port facility security assessments and developed their plans. We have advised numerous international ship and port operators on ISPS Code implementation including ongoing audit and maintenance.
The Maritime Division has extensive experience from both the military and commercial sectors in providing waterborne security. The company provides consultancy services, personnel and vessels for Anchorage and Oilfield Waterborne Security Support, Exclusion Zone Enforcement, Sub-Surface Detection/Deterrence and Anti piracy Support Services for Governments and industry. Examples of our experience in providing Waterborne Security Services worldwide include: Anti piracy Services in the Gulf of Aden (and associated insurance) and Malacca Strait, EEZ Fisheries Protection Operations along the coast of East Africa and Exclusion Zone Enforcement and Maritime Counter Terrorism training courses to the Yemeni Ministry of Defence.

We have provided security vulnerability assessments (SVAs), gap analyses, mitigation strategies and technical solutions for coastline areas with industrial, commercial and residential facilities, offshore and onshore terminal facilities.
The Maritime Division offers a range of internationally accredited training courses to fulfil both regulatory and company requirements. Our courses are approved amongst others by the Maritime Coast Guard Agency (MCA), the UK Dept of Transport (TRANSEC), United States Coast Guard National Maritime Center (NMC) and Maritime Administration (MARAD), Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and numerous Shipping Registries. We have trained a broad spectrum of governments and companies at all working levels. Our clients have included:
